Staff Lawyer Location: Ontario Our client Is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to improving access to justice for all Ontarians. Responsibilities Answer Hotline calls and provide summary legal advice on civil procedure matters, particularly Small Claims Court and Superior Court matters. Provide real-time legal support to volunteer lawyers on civil litigation, professional responsibility, ethics, and client management. Lead the training and development of junior lawyers, including an articling student, in civil law. Stay current on developments in the Rules of Civil Procedure, Small Claims Court Rules, and Rules of Professional Conduct, and share relevant updates with staff. Qualifications Licensed lawyer in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. Minimum 7 years of civil litigation experience, with experience in Superior Court matters; Small Claims Court experience is an asset. Strong understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure, Small Claims Court Rules, and Rules of Professional Conduct. Prior experience with pro bono work, public interest organizations, or working with vulnerable client populations. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide guidance in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience with Salesforce or another CRM is a significant asset. Compensation & Benefits Salary: depending on experience. Competitive benefits and paid leave entitlements.
