As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Legal Assistant to join our team and provide support in delivering exceptional legal services to our clients. The Role: We are looking for a highly organized and motivated Legal Assistant to support our legal team in Vancouver. The ideal candidate will be a proactive team player with excellent administrative skills and a strong interest in the legal field. You will assist in various legal tasks, including managing case files, preparing legal documents, coordinating meetings, and providing support to lawyers in their day-to-day practice. The Work: 1. Legal Document Preparation and Management: · Assist in the drafting, formatting, and proofreading of legal documents, including contracts, briefs, agreements, and correspondence. · Organize and maintain client files, ensuring all documents are accurately filed and easily accessible. · Prepare and file legal documents with government agencies and courts as required. · Assist with document review and research for legal projects and case preparation. 2. Administrative Support: · Manage calendars and schedule meetings, appointments, travel, and court dates for the legal team. · Coordinate communication with clients, experts, and opposing counsel. · Assist with billing, time tracking, and other administrative tasks. · Prepare and maintain internal reports and documentation. 3. Client Interaction: · Communicate with clients and stakeholders to gather information and provide updates on case status. · Provide excellent client service by maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. · Help schedule client consultations and ensure all necessary documents are prepared for meetings. 4. Legal Research and Case Support: · Conduct legal research and assist with the preparation of case files. · Provide support in trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and preparing discovery documents. · Stay up to date with legal trends and support the legal team with relevant information and resources. 5. Team Collaboration: · Work closely with lawyers and other team members to ensure efficient operations and high-quality legal services. · Participate in team meetings and assist with various office projects as required. Qualifications: · Certificate or Diploma from a recognized Legal Assistant program in Canada. · Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or in a similar administrative role in a law firm environment is preferred. · Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills. · Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with legal practice management software is an asset. · Familiarity with court filings, deadlines, and procedures (BCSC and Federal Court) is an asset. · Knowledge or interest in Indigenous law and business law is a plus. · Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. · A positive, collaborative attitude and the ability to work independently.
