Toronto | Hybrid | Partnership Track The Opportunity Houser Henry & Syron LLP is seeking a Senior Associate Lawyer to join its commercial real estate practice. This role is ideal for a lawyer ready for greater autonomy, meaningful client contact, and a clear path to partnership. You will work closely with business owners, executives, and investors, providing practical, business-focused legal advice. This is a hands-on role with real ownership - managing files, strengthening client relationships, mentoring junior lawyers, and contributing to the growth of the practice in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment. Interesting Work The successful candidate will work on a broad range of commercial real estate and business-driven transactions. The work is varied, sophisticated, and connected to the real business needs of clients. Examples may include advising on the acquisition or disposition of commercial properties, supporting real estate components of business sales, negotiating leasing arrangements for growing companies, and assisting with financing, refinancing, and reorganizations involving real property assets. Commercial acquisitions and dispositions. Commercial leasing and leasing strategy for privately held and growing businesses. Real estate components of mergers, acquisitions, business sales, and corporate reorganizations. Borrower-side financing and refinancing transactions. Portfolio transactions where legal advice must be practical, business-focused, and clearly communicated. Who We Are Looking For The ideal candidate is a confident, commercially minded lawyer with strong technical skills and the ability to manage files independently. A strong preference will be given to candidates with commercial real estate experience, particularly those who enjoy working directly with clients and providing practical, plain-language advice. The candidate should be comfortable balancing legal detail with business realities and should be interested in growing into a larger leadership role over time. Approximately 5+ years of post-call experience. Demonstrated experience with: - Corporate reorganizations - Purchase and sale of commercial/industrial properties - Borrower refinancing - Property portfolio transactions in business - Leases for commercial or industrial properties Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and file management skills.
