About The Opportunity Our client is an Ottawa law firm located west of the downtown core. They are looking for a dedicated legal support professional to join their litigation team on a full-time, permanent basis. Duties include but are not limited to: Opening, maintaining and closing files for storage Tracking deadlines and court dates in the calendar, a bring-forward system, and providing reminders Communication with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff Scheduling meetings and appointments, depositions, and mediations Preparing correspondence for lawyer’s signature, emails, memos to file and file updates Preparation and assembly of documents, correspondence, using firm software and filing documents with courts Docketing and preparation and delivery of invoices and follow up of account receivables Faxing, photocopying, scanning and filing of all communications and documents received and sent in all formats Other duties as required About You The successful candidate will have the following: 5+ years’ litigation experience Legal Assistant or Law Clerk diploma/certificate an asset; a combination of education, training and experience will also be considered Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities while paying attention to detail Strong knowledge of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure, Construction Act and Liens Experience with Superior Court, Small Claims Court, Federal Court, Tribunals, Bankruptcy and Commercial Court, and filing in the online portal Justice Services or Case Center Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Outlook, Adobe Pro, ACL/Xchangedocs, Ghost Practice About the Job Salary for this position will range between $50,000 and $75,000 per year, depending on experience.
