Résumé du poste
About Navio: We’re an entrepreneurial Canadian business law firm-about as far from stuffy as it gets. We're innovative thinkers and trusted business partners who love helping startups and growing companies win, and from clerks to founders, everyone's ideas count. If you’re a mid-level lawyer craving more autonomy, client ownership, and a chance to lead (with some fun along the way), keep reading. The Role: Intermediate or Senior Lawyer (Corporate &Commercial) We’re hiring an Intermediate or Senior Lawyer (approx. 4+ years’ call) for our corporate, commercial, and employment practice. You'll independently manage files, be a primary client contact, mentor juniors, and help drive our growth-handling deals start to finish with the support of our leadership team. Key Responsibilities: Corporate and Commercial Law: Run corporate and commercial files with minimal supervision – Draft and negotiate M&A, financings, restructurings, and joint ventures from structuring to closing. Own Your Files: Take files from intake to closing: scoping, organizing, tracking deadlines, and knowing when to run solo and when to loop in a team. You're the project manager. Be the Client's Go-To: Act as a primary contact, lead meetings, translate legalese into plain business language, and manage expectations so clients feel supported. Mentor & Collaborate: Review junior lawyers' work, share know-how, and team up with founders on bigger files. It's an all-hands-on-deck culture. Lead and support as needed. Grow the Firm: Deepen client relationships, chase referrals, and jump into business development. Help write a blog post, speak at an event, or pitch a new service. We'll back you. Cross-Disciplinary Work: Collaborate with colleagues to provide holistic solutions. Because our firm covers multiple facets of business law, you may wear different hats – one day, finalizing a share purchase agreement; the next, advising on a indemnity clause in a licensing agreement. Your ability to adapt and apply your skills across disciplines is key. Continuous Improvement: Take initiative to improve our practice. Whether it’s refining a contract template, or implementing a new project management tool, we value innovative thinking and efficiency. At this career stage, we expect you to proactively identify ways to make our work better and our clients happier, and to work with the team to implement those improvements. Your experience and ideas will help shape our processes and services. Qualifications: Credentials: J.D./LL.B. and good standing with the Law Society of Ontario, plus ~4 years in corporate/commercial law with some technology law exposure. Firm or in-house experience across business transactions is ideal. Legal Chops: Independently manage files and drive deals, with sharp drafting, strong corporate law knowledge (structures, M&A, governance), commercial contract standards familiarity, and solid research and negotiation skills. Client & Business Savvy: A confident, clear communicator who understands client goals and enjoys the client-facing side. Business development experience is a plus but we’ll help you build it too. Team Player & Leader: Thrive solo and in a team. Mentoring experience is a big plus; you give feedback well and stay eager to learn. Mindset: Entrepreneurial, adaptable, and resourceful. You take initiative, handle deadlines with a positive attitude, and value integrity and helping businesses thrive. What We Offer: Impactful Work: Lead deals that shape entrepreneurial clients’ businesses and build lasting relationships. Career Growth: A real path to senior roles and partnership. We promote from within and back your business development. Mentorship: Work closely with scaling companies on complex matters. You’ll never tackle a challenge alone. Dynamic Culture: Fast-paced but friendly, with hybrid work, celebrated wins, and a sense of humor even when things get busy. Competitive Package: o Competitive salary of $105,000 to $165,000 per year, with compensation determined by factors including years of practice, depth of experience, demonstrated capabilities, and anticipated contribution to the firm. o Firm paid health and dental. o Paid Parental Leave based on seniority. o CAAT Defined Benefit Pension Plan. o 15 paid vacation and 7 personal days, firm holiday closures and we usually take extra long weekends when the weather is nice in the summer! o Covered professional fees (Bar, LawPro, CPD). How to Apply: If you’re ready to take the next step in your career and this role sounds like a fit, let’s talk! If you do not have more than 75% or more of the experience, still apply. We are serious about mentorship, and if you’re eager to learn we will help you gain the experience. The posting is for a new role.
