We are looking for Staff Lawyer (full time - three (1) permanent position) with a minimum of three (3) plus years of criminal law experience to join our team at the La Ronge area office. Our lawyer competitive salary is in the range of $98,927.18 up to $203,233.84 based on years of relevant experience and Call to Bar years. Responsibilities Under the leadership of the Legal Director, key staff lawyer responsibilities include but are not limited to: Conduct of assigned files to professional standards and in accordance with the policies and procedures of Legal Aid Saskatchewan & the Law Society of Saskatchewan. Conduct preliminary inquiries, pre-trials, case conferences, trials, reviews & appeals. Negotiate competent resolutions of files to achieve fair, early and lasting outcomes for clients. Represent clients at bail hearings, guilty pleas and remands both in-person and remotely. Work independently on cases as assigned by the Legal Director. Complete and accurate time entry and record keeping. Position Requirements Law degree from a recognized law school. Experience in criminal law. Member in good standing with the Law Society of Saskatchewan. Familiarity with the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action; the United Nations declaration on the Rights of Indigenous people. Technologically savvy with a keen enthusiasm for learning new systems including, computer literacy in MS Office, web-based legal research tools, and other web-based resources. Commitment to social justice and an understanding of the needs and challenges faced by low-income and marginalized communities. Demonstrated time management and ability to deal with conflicting priorities and deadlines. Valid Driver’s License – Class 5.
